Community-engaged scholar in critical public health and health communication
Daryl Mangosing, DrPH, MPH (he/they) is a Postdoctoral Scholar Fellow with the Institute on Digital Health and Innovation (IDHI) at Florida State University College of Nursing. They are an alumni of Berkeley Public Health and engage in the intersection of LGBTQ+/multicultural health, community-engaged research, and health communication.
For their dissertation, Dr. Mangosing investigated sexualized drug use (i.e., recreational drug use during sexual activity), specifically harm reduction approaches and moral agency, among queer people from California in the context of HIV/STI prevention and online mobile hookup applications.
Previously, they served as a Research Communications Specialist at the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies and Prevention Research Center in the Division of Prevention Science at University of California, San Francisco, where they drove communication efforts and disseminated HIV prevention and public health research.
A queer Filipino-American from Guam, they also received their MPH (Health Communication) from Tufts University, Boston, MA and their BA (Health Sciences) from Berea College, Berea, KY.
They enjoy going out for nature/urban walks, good food and drinks, and social nightlife; being a part-time raver at concerts; playing video games on PlayStation; and serving as the human companion for an enigmatic Bombay cat, Sienna 🐈⬛.
